Adult Wellbeing

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 31% of adults worldwide do not meet the recommended levels of physical activity. Physical inactivity is one of the major risk factors for noncommunicable diseases and premature death. People who are insufficiently active have a 20–30% higher risk of death compared with people who are sufficiently active. For adults aged 18–64, the WHO recommends at least 150–300 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per week, or 75–150 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, or an equivalent combination of both. Adults should also participate in muscle-strengthening activities involving the major muscle groups at least 2 days per week.
Ways to promote adult wellbeing includes:
1.Make exercise part of everyday life
2.Set realistic and achievable goals
3.Find enjoyable activities
4. Reduce sedentary time
5. Use technology as motivation
6. Exercise with others
7. Create active workplaces and communities
8. Make physical activity inclusive and accessible
9. Lead by example
Remember, WHO emphasizes that any amount of physical activity is better than none, meaning adults can begin with small, manageable changes and gradually become more active.
